About me…

I’m an adventurer.  I lived in Korea for the last year, from February 2010 to February 2011, teaching English near Daegu.  During the year, I traveled to 7 Asian countries, including all throughout Korea. On my way to Korea, I stopped in Egypt, making 8 countries in one year. It was an amazing experience.

Most of the time, I traveled alone.  On this trip, which was on my way home from Korea back to the USA, I met my good friend Jayne and we traveled around India for 3 weeks.  It was an eye-opening, but challenging, journey.  Most definitely a hardship, but I’m glad I did it nonetheless.  Travel is my passion… 🙂

I’ve always been fascinated by India after seeing countless movies, watching the marathon mini-series The Jewel in the Crown, reading Gandhi’s biography, and reading books by Indian authors.  None of this prepared me for the actual experience of India.  I think it will end up, in retrospect, being a  life-altering journey.

  1. Hi
I saw a nice picture of diorama on Gandhi on your blog Catbird in India. I am doing research on dioramas in India and would appreciate any info. on same.
    Thanks Charu

    • Charu, I’m sorry I don’t really know anything much about the dioramas. I just took pictures of them at the Gandhi Memorial. Maybe you could find some information on the Gandhi Memorial website or somewhere like that, or just Google dioramas.

  2. Yes I imagine India would be a surprise to most people when they arrive for the first time. And it will definitely take some time to get under their skin, so to speak, and take in the culture of India (and perhaps the food? 🙂 )

    • Yes, it was a crazy time in India! I’m sure I’ll go back one day to see the south, but it will take a couple of years before I get up the nerve (and the will) to go again. 🙂

    • Thanks, Pooja. It’s crazy, but I actually have 16 blogs, all focused on different regions, etc. I wish I had done it differently, but it’s too late to remedy now. Oh well, I have kind of a diary of every place I’ve visited. I’ll look forward to reading more about your journey. It sounds interesting!! Good luck with all your dreams. 🙂

    • Hi Pooja, I just realized I thought you were a friend of mine named Pooja who just started a blog, but when I clicked on yours, I realized you’re a different Pooja. Sorry if I sounded like I know you personally! I’m so confused. 🙂 I look forward to following you!

      • Haha, Pooja is a very common name so I understand why you got confused. 🙂 I am also interested in traveling (started not so long ago and it’s mostly centered around Europe) and I’m impressed with how many places you’ve been to 🙂 Thank you for following my blog and I look forward to reading yours!

      • Hi Pooja, well it’s certainly nice to meet you. You’re so young so you have a lifetime ahead to travel. I didn’t start serious traveling until I was much older, so I don’t have that many years left. I want to take advantage as often as I can, because I love it too! 🙂
